I went to the woods to get some information on some plants and animals for my science journal. The first thing I spotted was the Brown Anole. This a small lizard about 5 inches long that you will see every day you go outside in South Florida. It's main color is brown. It's feet allow it to stick to trees and walls. If you observe it for a while, you will notice that it eats many bugs.
After that, I saw the Slash Pine. It grows to be very tall. 60- 100 feet. It has needles that grow to be about a foot long. It's bark colors are orange and gray. It's cones grow to be about 6 inches long.
The next thing I noticed was Spanish Moss hanging off it. Spanish moss is basically a white bundle of fuzzy stems. Some parts of them have flower like things on them.
The next thing that I found was something that I wasn't happy to see. It was Poison Ivy. This 3-leafed plant was filled with urishiol. This substance causes a rash to the human skin. Poison Ivy is usually green. This plant can climb trees and even become a large bush.
The last thing that I saw was the Boston fern. It was in a large patch of them. It was green, and the leaves were barely separated.
